Ideal Newton gave Tim Tetrick one of his five wins on the Tuesday afternoon card at Harrah's Chester, taking the fastest of five $25,000 Industrial Highway divisions
for distaff pacers.
The five-year-old Western Ideal mare cleared easily from her outside post and took no prisoners, reeling off a :26.3 first quarter before going unopposed throughout. Ideal Newton faced but one challenge the entire mile, as 3-10 favourite Shacked Up (Eric Goodell) vacated the pocket at head-stretch to give chase, missing by a half-length at the winning post. Ideal Newton prevailed in 1:49.4 over a track listed as fast.
Tetrick also won with Billie Bluechip (1:51.2), Not Enough (1:51.3) and Jasperthat A (1:52.1) in the Industrial Highway series, while taking a $20,000 division of the Exit 8 series for three- and four-year-old trotters with Syenite (1:54.1).
IPO Blue Chip took the fastest $20,000 split of the Flower Street series for three- and four-year-old distaff trotters, clocking a 1:55 mile under Brad Hanners, who made his only drive on the card a winning one.
The Road to Riches late closing series continue tomorrow with preliminary divisions of the Harrah's Boulevard and Northeast Extension. Finals for all seven series will be held Monday, December 20, Tuesday, December 21 and Wednesday, December 22.
