The four-year-old Chapter Seven gelding Black Tie Bash scored another off-the-speed victory in the $10,500 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday night (Nov. 3).

Driver Robert Shepherd floated from his assigned outer post to race eighth while Raising Rusty rolled to the lead after a :27.4 first quarter. With Seeyou Men parked from the start, Black Tie Bash caught cover from a developing flow into a :57.1 half and drew closer as Cold Rage flushed first over to three-quarters in 1:25.4. Cold Rage dug into Raising Rusty around the final turn all while Shepherd revved Black Tie Bash and vaulted off cover in the lane to a length victory in 1:55.4. Seeyou Men also rallied but settled for second with Cold Rage taking third and Tokyo Seelster, off a pocket trip, finishing fourth.

Robert Shepherd owns Black Tie Bash, who collected his 17th win from 60 starts and pushed his bankroll to $148,008. Isabelle Darveau trains the $5.40 winner.
