Nine trotters lined up behind the starting gate in Saturday’s $10,000 Preferred Trot at Flamboro Downs, and after being treated to a ground-saving trip throughout the mile it was Onthemoneyside who prevailed in 1:59.3.
In rein to Scott ‘The Answer’ Young, Onthemoneyside dropped into the deuce behind race favourite Spartan Victory, who sped through panels of :28.4 and :59.2 before giving up a brief lead to Rockin With Dewey at the three-quarter pole in 1:29.1. Onthemoneyside found some clearance in the lane, and she used a :30.1 panel to prevail by a neck over the tempo-setting Spartan Victory. The third prize went to Rockin With Dewey.
Luc Blais trains the five-year-old daughter of On The Sonny Side-Sometimes Diva for Luc Blais Inc of Lochaber Ouest and Judith Farrow of Hemmingford, Quebec. It was the fifth win of the 2013 campaign and the 12th to date for the career winner in excess of $120,000.
