Police in New Zealand have announced that an additional 13 charges have been laid in the ongoing ‘Operation Inca,’ which initially made the mainstream news earlier this fall when ten people were arrested and charged in relation to alleged corruption in harness racing.

Multiple Down Under news outlets have reported (here, here, here and here) that the additional charges were filed by police on Wednesday (Nov. 28).

New Zealand Police Detective Inspector Stu Mills has commented on the updated charges, stating that 12 of the additional charges have been laid against current defendants “all in relation to match fixing.”

Mills went on to state that “one charge has been placed on a new defendant” and further explained that the person “is known in the industry.”

The defendants will now appear Wednesday, December 6, in the Christchurch District Court, Mills explained.
