Sarah Lauren Scott's beloved trotter Fork pulled off an 11-1 upset defeating favourite Escuela in Flamboro Downs' featured $8,500 Preferred 3 to earn his 20th career victory on Thursday evening (November 29).
Trained by Mark Steacy and driven by Brett MacDonald, the nine-year-old Southfork gelding overtook early leader Zorgwijk Queen just past the :29.1 quarter mark and kept Escuela at bay through middle panels of :59 and 1:29 en route to the 1-1/2 length victory in 1:59.1. Waikiki Hanover closed from the backfield to show.
Fork has hit the board 11 times this season in 24 starts -- five of which were winning efforts. Lifetime, he has banked $232,967 in purses.
Overlooked at odds of 11-1, Fork returned $24.50 to his backers at the betting windows.
The victory was the 100th of the season for Steacy while MacDonald, the 2017 Future Star Award winner who is in the midst of his first million-dollar campaign, won three in a row on the program.

Thank you to all of our
Thank you to all of our friends, family, SC and supporters. Let me tell you, this sure has been one of the best experiences of my life. Our little spur of the moment $900 yearling trotting his lifetime best for us in 1:53.4 has lead us on the ride of a lifetime. He is everything to me, so much so I have accumulated his family. I am looking forward to racing his Muscle Mass sister whom I named Silver Spoon with my partner Jennifer Dalton of NJ. I am now a breeder and owner of Forks Dam Evolution. My tiny stable brings me so much joy. Thank you to Fork, you are my dream come true.
