Favourite Sky Desperado delivered on his pari-mutuel promise with a five and a half length triumph in the $38,400 Hump Day Claiming Series on Wednesday evening at Georgian Downs for driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Richard Moreau.
Sky Desperado swept from fourth to first past the half and drew off for the career-best 1:54.1 victory over Shark Shootout (Anthony MacDonald) and Justlikejessejames (Steve Byron). The three-year-old Lis Mara gelding, who finished third by half a length in the opening leg on Nov. 14 and won his round two division last week, paid $3.80 to win.
The series was for pacers that are non-winners of $30,000 life as of October 31, 2012 racing for a claiming price of $10,000.
After going winless in three starts as a two-year-old, Sky Desperado has earned four wins in 26 sophomore outings to bank $47,614 in purses. He is owned by Timothy Gillespie, Peter Williams, Jason and J. Charles Churchill.
The victory was one of three on the card for Moreau and Filion. Rene Allard also had a training triple during the 11-race program.
