It's safe to say that Brent MacGrath knows the look of a champion. Now, after having purchased a weanling son of the incomparable Somebeachsomewhere, he says it's like looking at his old friend

.

"I really like the look of him. He looks a lot like 'Beach," MacGrath was quoted as saying in an article by the Truro Daily News. "His colour and his shoulders, he's quite athletic looking."

The seven-month-year-old weaning, Sepia Sands (Somebeachsomewhere--Sepia Hanover--Big Towner), was purchased for $32,000 at the recent Harrisburg yearling sale.

"I'm really excited about anything to do with a 'Beach Baby," he was quoted as saying. "It's a very exciting time to see how many of his father's other qualities come forward and we'll hope for good luck."

What an amazing horse & what a pleasure to follow this fellows exploits!

I was totally captivated by Somebeachsomewhere & literally in awe of this magnificent animal. It is a well-deserved honor for him to have a major race named for him!

I was in Cape Breton for part of his sophomore year & it was wonderful to see all the people that would flock to the teletheatres when ever he was racing. It seemed that everyone knew of this horse whether it be at the track or at the local Legion.

I feel like he was a bright light for the industry & I hope for the best for Brent McGrath & his connections with the weanling that they purchased.

I'll enjoy watching any Beach baby that races. He was magical to watch and if his babies have half as much of his magic we're all in for a treat

Here's hoping is right, but he'll never be better than dad, lets just hope he thinks he is.

Purchased a weanling of the Beach!!
WOW they didn't even breed any mares to the Beach!!
Guess they syndicated him totally 100%!!
I saw that weanling at Harrisburg....absolutely gorgeous!!

Dan, just to clarify, the original six owners do still have part of the horse - he wasn't 100 per cent syndicated. Much like you, Brent liked the look of this weanling which prompted the purchase.

Here's Hoping!!!! We all had so much fun watching his sire, hope he is just as good or better! Good Luck!
