Illinois state Senator Terry Link, the Democrat that authored the slots-at-tracks legislation currently being discussed in committee, has said that he expects the bill to be
voted on this week.
Link told northwest Chicago’s Journal-Topics that he expects the bill -- SB 3970 -- to come out of committee Tuesday, November 30 and go to a vote of the full Senate the same day or Wednesday, December 1.
The bill as being discussed includes up to 1,200 slot machines and video poker devices for each of Illinois’ six tracks, and circumvents local municipalities’ rights to prohibit them. It also provides for five casinos in the state.
