Milton Bloomfield, a cycling engineer in Christchurch, New Zealand, working with an advisory team of prominent trainers and drivers, is close to finishing work on a new
sulky design which has generated optimistic excitement in New Zealand harness racing, according to the Southland Times.
The publication has reported that the driver-trainer brother combination of Anthony and Tim Butt, along with trainer and brother-in-law Cran Dalgety, former world driving champion Mark Jones, and trainer-driver Nigel McGrath have been working with Bloomfield on a new race bike which Andrew Butt hopes can be “half the cost, half the weight, and hopefully faster than an American-type sulky introduced recently in New Zealand.”
Bloomfield has designed new racing bicycles used by New Zealand Olympians.
