After coming up just a bit short in the first two legs of the Spartacus Claiming Series, Boiling Over took his game to a whole new level and got all the marbles in
Sunday’s $20,000 final at Fraser Downs.
Claimed from last week’s second leg assignment, Boiling Over was treated to a perfect pocket trip by trainer/driver Ed Hensley, who was able to stalk pacesetter Kalahari Cheetah through demanding panels of :26.3, :55.3 and 1:24.2. The leader dropped out of the picture in the late stages of the mile, but that wasn’t the case for Boiling Over.
The seven-year-old son of Kettle Bee stepped home in :30.1 to post the narrow victory in 1:54.4 over KG Bradescape, who was three-quarters of a length away at the finish line. Law Of The Yukon rounded out the top three.
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite, Boiling Over improved his 2009 record to 5-3-5 in 26 starts with the winning effort. Hensley shares ownership on the career winner of $146,396 with the J J J Stables of Aldergrove, BC.
