Four-year-old pacing mare Tables Big Secret bookended her November with victories in Flamboro Downs' $8,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for trainer Lyle MacArthur.
Following a pair of unsuccessful starts at the Preferred 2 level, Tables Big Secret returned to the class she won at Flamboro on November 6 and notched her 13th victory of the year.
Sent postward as the 4-1 second wagering choice, Tables Big Secret returned $10.50 to win with MacArthur in the bike for the Wednesday night feature.
Southwind Ion (Brett MacDonald) established the early lead into the first turn before being looped by even-money favourite So Awesome (Colin Kelly) during a :28 opening quarter. Lady Oxford (Robert Shepherd) then went first-up at the :58 mid-mile mark with Tables Big Secret picking up the cover from fifth.
Lady Oxford cleared the front through three-quarters in 1:27 with Tables Big Secret in pursuit. She wrestled the lead away down the stretch to score in 1:56.1 with a resurgent Southwind Ion coming back on the far outside to take second-place. Finishing inside of those two, Lady Oxford edged out Tilikum for third prize.
Tables Big Secret, a homebred daughter of Big Jim, now has 14 career wins and just over $90,000 earned for Linda Wellwood of St. George Brant, Ont., and co-owner Tammy Aspden of Caistor Centre, Ont.
