A juvenile filly that goes undefeated in her first 12 starts is sure to attract some well-deserved attention. In the case of Maritime sensation Magical Mistress, it has also attracted a new set of owners.
Donald MacRae has announced via social media that he and Allard Racing have purchased Magical Mistress, the undefeated daughter of Camystic, from her breeder/owner Barry Martin, of Sydney, Nova Scotia.
A sales figure for the transaction has not been publicly divulged, but MacRae couldn’t help but express his enthusiasm for the fact that he and Allard Racing have acquired the bay.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Barry for this opportunity to take this filly to the next level,” MacRae wrote. “She will remain in the Maritimes next summer, but will (be) staked to other stakes in Canada and the [United States].”
Magical Mistress – who is out of the Largo mare Meridian Magic and has banked $71,280 in purses – has been dynamite thus far in her 12 career tests. She has won all six of her Atlantic Sires Stakes starts, including her Atlantic Breeders Crown championship, and has also tallied victories in the Callbeck Stakes, a pair of Lady Slipper Stakes and the PEI Colt Stakes. Her most recent stakes victories have come in the finals of the Maritime Breeders Stakes and Island Breeders Stakes.
The talented young lass has thrived under the care of trainer Stephen Gass and pilot Adam Merner. According to MacRae, he and Allard Racing are going to keep the youngster with Gass for her local starts.
“She will remain at Ron Gass’ farm for her Maritime racing,” said MacRae, who went on to add that both he and Allard Racing are excited about the possibilities for the filly.
