Kaitlin Haining made her training debut a winning one on Friday night (November 24) at Northlands Park as her homebred pacing mare Hf Princess Peach went from last to first in the evening's sixth race.
Sent postward as the 7-1 fourth choice in a $4,100 fillies and mares claiming-conditioned pace, Hf Princess Peach trailed the nine-horse field early on before progressing in the outer flow and storming home for the 2:01.1 victory. Driven by Jamie Gray, the four-year-old Glorious Scooter-Hf Daves Gift mare out-finished Sixfortynine to win by one and half lengths, with Is Santa Real coming in third. Hf Princess Peach returned $17.90 to win.
Haining, 18, of Lacombe, Alberta, owns and recently took over the training duties on Hf Princess Peach from her father Harold. The win was just the second in the mare's career spanning 45 races.
While Haining kicked off her career on a winning note, Hall of Fame horseman Keith Clark enjoyed a successful night of racing with a training triple on the nine-race program courtesy of Beer Bribe ($2.50), Nightime Chase ($8.60) and Blue Eyed Cowboy ($5.20). Clark now boasts 51 training wins this year and 4,182 lifetime.
