The Upstate New York chapter of the United States Harness Writers Association will honour Cathy and Tom Barzycki with its Good Guy Award for their efforts with local charitable events in the name of the sport
.
The Barzyckis have been an active part of fund raising activities over the last two years in conjunction with Todd Haight of Batavia Downs to benefit Mercy Flight of Western New York. Their donations and involvement helped, in part, to raise $30,000 for the organization in 2008-09.
They are also owners of standardbreds; enjoy attending the races to watch their horses compete, and enjoy being involved in the business on a day-to-day basis.
Cathy and Tom will receive their award during the UNY-USHWA Night of Distinction which will be held at Batavia Downs on Friday, December 4, during the card of live racing.
Horse, driver, and trainer of the meet for the Batavia Downs fall meet and Western New York horse, driver, and trainer of the year will be announced at the track on Friday, December 4.
