Although the province of Alberta saw individuals gambling less in the last fiscal year, an article by the Calgary Herald states that people within the province gamble much more than those in all other provinces
.
The article refers to Statistics Canada studies conducted over the past couple of years which state that the average adult Albertan spent $890 annually on gambling while the national average was $524.
According to the Calgary Herald article, Albertans still spent $25 billion on legalized forms of gambling within the 2008-09 fiscal year.
The article also cites an Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission report released yesterday which stated that total gambling revenues in Alberta dropped about five per cent last year to $25 billion, down from $26.3 billion the previous year.
