Trotting superstar Arch Madness became the richest Canadian-sired standardbred in harness racing history on Saturday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Arch Madness broke the earnings record held by pacer Mister Big with his runner-up finish in the last $50,000 preliminary leg of the TVG Free For All Championship Series.
Arch Madness' $12,500 share of the purse pushed his career earnings to $4,144,241 -- just passing Mister Big's $4,143,492 record.
The nine-year-old gelded son of Balanced Image is trained by Trond Smedshammer and owned by Marc Goldberg of Woodmere, New York and Willow Pond LLC of Hewlett, New York.
Arch Madness finished one and a quarter lengths behind upset winner Wishing Stone in a 1:54 mile. He will look to add to his record bankroll in next weekend's $500,000 TVG Series Final.
Archie, you make us Canadians
Archie, you make us Canadians proud. You should be recognised more especially at your age still trotting in 1:50.
