The injury list has become longer for driver Floyd Fraess. The 55-year-old harness pilot is now expected to be in hospital for two to three weeks after Sunday's wreck at
Northlands Park.
"Exact injuries are a broken collarbone, two broken ribs and a fractured hip socket," Chance Fraess, Floyd's son, told thehorses.com. "Right now his hip will be reassessed on Thursday to determine if he requires surgery or not. If it's healing on its own, no surgery will be required. They are expecting a 2-3 week hospital stay."
Fraess went down in the first race on Sunday at the Edmonton track. When KG Pom Pom went off stride at the start, Fraess and Cavajestic couldn't avoid running into problems. KG Pom Pom and Cavajestic became tangled, sending Fraess to the track.
It was Fraess's first drive in a betting race in almost six years. "Our family would like to thank all of the on track and support staff involved in this situation, everyone responded quickly to make sure Floyd received the necessary medical treatment and Cavajestic did not receive any additional injuries," continued Chance.
