Arc Light unleashed a devastating finishing burst to get up for the win in the Saturday afternoon featured finale at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The $2,700 top event saw Drivingthedragon N (Jason Hughes) leaving smartly off the wings to gain the lead and lay down splits of :30, 1:01.1 and 1:30.3 over a track rated three seconds off due to wind and wet conditions. Dancers Pass (David Dowling) duelled with that leader first over while eventual winner Arc Light and trainer-driver Marc Campbell were third over up until the final quarter.
Arc Light was then launched three-wide approaching the three-quarters and circled up on her competition to nail Drivingthedragon N at the wire in 2:01.1 while Dancers Pass completed the triactor ticket.
Grayland Farm of Gulf Shore, N.S., holds the ownership papers on Arc Light, a three-year-old Maritime Champion daughter of Camystic - Red Star Ashlee, who was winning her second straight race at this level.
Star Photo (Hughes) cut out all the fractions and won handily in the $2,450 Open Trot in 2:02.4 over Sailor Blue (Ken Murphy) and Freddie (Campbell). Star Photo is owned by Robi Hughes, Eric MacLauchlan and James Perrot of Stratford and Blair MacLauchlan of Charlottetown.
The Chris Davies stable of Cornwall scored a pair of winners, both with Adam Merner in the bike, as Always Reese stopped the clock in 2:04.4 and Miss Sangria won in 2:05.
