Trainer Richard Moreau had his crew firing on all cylinders Thursday evening at Woodbine Racetrack, and as a result he came away with a three-win performance on the 10-race card.
Moreau, who is just over a month away from nabbing yet another WEG training title and possibly another O’Brien Award as the nation’s Trainer of the Year, teamed up with driver Louis Philippe Roy to win with Play It Again Sam (1:54.2 – Race 1) and Docs Sausalito (1:53 – Race 3).
They also triumphed with claiming pacer A Boy Named Suuzz, who extended his winning streak to five-in-a-row thanks to his front-stepping score in Race 9.
The gelding brushed to the top shortly past the quarter pole and sliced his way through middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:24. He used a :28.1 final frame to win by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:52.1.
Moreau has sent out at least 200 winners in each of the last six seasons, and he’s had eight straight campaigns in which his barn has racked up more than $2 million in purse earnings.
The native of Quebec has piled up 5,279 lifetime wins and purse earnings of close to $49 million.
