A longtime fan favourite on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, 11-year-old gelding Kindly Poet was back in the Saturday night spotlight with a winning effort in an $11,000 conditioned pace.

The classy campaigner rallied three-wide from fourth over nearing the third quarter mark and rushed by his rivals with a :28-second final panel for the 1:52.4 triumph over fellow late-closers Topcornerterror and F Twenty Two. Winning Dream had led through fractions of :26.1, :55.1 and 1:23.4 over the "good" track before fading to last.

Trevor Henry drove the millionaire son of Western Ideal to his 48th career victory for trainer Murray Brethour and co-owners Scarff Legacy Stables, Donald Varcoe and Daniel Sarafian.

Kindly Poet paid $12.20 to win as the 5-1 third choice in the full field of 10.
