Classic Sakuri paced home for her fourth straight win Friday (November 22) in Northfield Park’s fifth race.
The seven-year-old is owned by Lora Markley and Kiesha Malloy and trained by Barry Langley. Josh Sutton was aboard for the winning drive.
Classic Sakuri started from post two and led at every call, posting fractions of :28.4, :58.3, 1:27.2 and 1:56.1 over a sloppy surface. She maintained a four length win margin over her closest competitor, Canaco Star (Keith Kash Jr.).
Friday’s triumph was the sixth win this year and 22nd career success for Classic Sakuri (Astreos-Spider Cam-Camluck) and increased her lifetime earnings to $114,300. She returned $6.20 to win.
Classic Sakuri was one of six winners on the night driven by Sutton. His other driving victories were with Addys Secret ($3.80) in race two, Random Blizzard ($7.80) in race three, Rockn Roll Queen ($5.60) in race seven, Hally ($2.80) in race eight and Reisin In The Sun ($3.20) in race nine.
The 31-year-old Sutton began driving in 2000 and has since garnered 2,155 career victories and is approaching $12.4 million in purse earnings.
