Sudbury Downs' leading reinsman David Dowling won two of the three Harvest Series second leg divisions for $6,000 to $7,000 claiming pacers with his own trainees on Wednesday night's harness racing card in Chelsmford, Ont.

Dowling and this year's Pot O Gold Claiming Series champion No Competition, a runner-up in round one of the Harvest Series last week, survived a first over journey en route to winning his $4,900 second leg division in 1:58 flat. Mancasso (Wayne MacLean) closed well from the backfield to finish second, missing the win by just three parts of a length. First leg winner Cinema Classic (Paul MacLean) was third.

No Competition paid $6.20 to win as the co-favourite. Dowling also shares ownership of the eight-year-old Rustler Hanover gelding with local owner Keith Vaillancourt. No Competition now has 11 wins, 11 seconds and four thirds on his seasonal record with nearly $50,000 banked.

Dowling and front-runner Loose Talk turned back eventual third-place finisher Scapa N (Mike MacNeill) and held off Justa Regular Joe (Paul MacLean), a first leg winner, to prevail in the second round of the series by half a length in 1:59.4.

Loose Talk paid $19.70 for the 8-1 surprise. The four-year-old Freedoms Pass gelding is also owned by Dowling, along with local resident Jeffrey Kelly. He has recorded seven wins, four seconds and one third in 25 starts this year while banking over $27,000.

Trainer-driver Gerry Belanger won the other division with four-year-old Royal Mattjesty gelding Tax Riteoff ($10.30) in 1:58 for Guelph owners John Fewster, Doug McNair, and Chris Matthews, and Orangeville's Desmond Scott.
