It has been reported that on Monday, November 22, the Louisiana Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association voted to remove board president Sean Alfortish

.

According to an article on nola.com, the move came four days after the pair were indicted by a federal grand jury of scheming to rig the board's 2008 election and 'bilk the agency of hundreds of thousands of dollars in cash, cars and vacations.'

The report also states that executive director Mona Romero -- who was also indicted -- has been immediately suspended. Two of Romero's subordinates, Cindy 'Cricket' Romero and Ruth Winfrey, were also suspended.

The result of the HBPA vote reportedly means that Alfortish has until tonight at midnight to resign or else he will be removed.
