Wilcat Rocky powered home to win the featured $9,000 conditioned pace for horses and geldings on Wednesday, Nov. 22 at Flamboro Downs.
Travis Henry and Wilcat Rocky were early to the lead and set the tempo with an opening panel in :27.1 before P L Oliver (Colin Kelly) took over. Wilcat Rocky continued in the pocket en route to the :56.3, but was shuffled back to third along the rail as Yourtheone (Travis Cullen) pulled first over as they approached the three-quarters in 1:25.2. Down the lane, P L Oliver attempted to get away from the field, but Wilcat Rocky launched up the inside path to win by a neck in 1:55.2. Yourtheone completed the triactor.
Wilcat Rocky is a four-year-old gelded son of Hes Watching and the Camluck mare Wildcat Beauty. Owned by breeder Wildcat Stables Inc. and Antonio Tangreda, the Dale Heard trainee collected his sixth win of the season and 15th career tally, equalling his career mark. He moved his lifetime bankroll to $107,488. The favourite paid $3.80 to win.
In Wednesday's card opener, an accident occurred near the three-quarters in which driver Larry Small was unseated after a break in stride by Hank The Hunk. Both horse and driver were reported as fine and walked off the track. Small drove in his next scheduled race in the eighth race.
