Wall Said scored her fifth straight success by capturing the $25,000 Halloween Series Final on Saturday (Nov. 20) at MGM Northfield Park.
Aaron Merriman drove Wall Said for trainer Mike Sweeney, who conditions the pacer at the historic Delaware County Fairgrounds for owners Wall Brothers Stable, Patrick Sweeney, Rocky Miller and John Miller.
Wall Said started from post three. Merriman let her competition get set through the :26.2 opening quarter before moving to the lead. Although receiving a relentless challenge from Wester Rosie, Wall Said remained on the lead through splits of :55.4, 1:24 and 1:53.2, besting her competition by a neck.
“Even though I feel she was not at her best tonight, she showed serious grit and heart to fight off two nice filles for the win,” said Merriman. “I was very impressed with her effort.”
Wall Said (Well Said – Ashland Blue – Blissfull Hall) increased her seasonal total in excess of $100,000, raising her career bankroll to $132,300. Saturday’s victory represents her 10th score in 2021 and her 16th success. She was the favourite and returned $2.60 to win.
