Lit De Rose Wins Mohawk Preferred

Lit De Rose landed back in the winner's circle after taking another edition of the $32,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Handicap Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday night (November 20).

With Sylvain Filion in the bike, Lit De Rose fired to command from the outside post seven then gave way to a parked and progressing Parisian Blue Chip (Doug McNair) before looping back to the lead after the :26.4 quarter.

The even-money favourite continued to lead the way through a half in :56 and three-quarters in 1:24.3. She kept clear of the first-over Ivana Flybye N (Bob McClure) and held off the late surge of Parisian Blue Chip, who was locked and loaded in the stretch, to win by a half-length in 1:52 flat. Closing off cover from the backfield, Kendall Seelster (Jason Ryan) edged out Gias Surreal (Trevor Henry) for third prize.

Lit De Rose paid $4.10 to win.

The Milton Stakes runner-up, currently trained by Richard Moreau, has won two of her last three starts in the Mohawk Preferred and was top three in last weekend's edition.

The homebred Leader Bayama mare now sports a record reading 7-3-2 from 16 starts during her five-year-old campaign, with seasonal earnings totalling $138,131 for owner Guy Corbeil of Mirabel, Que.
