Repeat Winners In Rideau Features

Silverado Dream and Montreal Phil made headlines when they won their respective Preferred assignments at Rideau Carleton Raceway last Sunday evening, and they were up to their old tricks again earlier this evening

Silverado Dream survived a first-over trip to take Sunday’s $14,000 Preferred Trot in 1:56.3 for trainer/driver Pierre Bovay. The five-year-old son of Fortuna Winner drew away to win by 2-3/4 lengths over Star Ruffnready, with Canbec Fridolin finishing third.

Nicole Bovay Gurtner of Rigaud, QC holds the ownership papers on the gelding, who is 6-for-26 this season. The 20-time winner has stashed away more than $220,000 in lifetime earnings.

Montreal Phil extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his 1:53.4 triumph in Sunday’s $14,000 Preferred Pace. With Stephane Gendron at the lines behind the Guy Corbeil trainee, the six-year-old son of Blissfull Hall went coast-to-coast en route to defeating Tyber King and Peenie.

Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of Hudson, QC owns the gelding, who won for the eighth time this season and for the 22nd time in his career. The $7,000 payday boosted his overall bankroll to $184,199.

Sunday evening’s program also featured the opening leg of the Findlay Creek Pacing Series. Winning their respective $7,500 divisions were Win Gaiter (1:57), Art Smile (1:56.4) and P G A (1:56.2).
