They came from 25 states, four Canadian Provinces, Europe, and Puerto Rico to purchase horses at the 61st Annual Fall Mixed Sale held in Delaware, Ohio from November 17th to 20th.
A pair of three-year-olds topped the 1,429 horse catalogue at $25,000 each. Concord Stud Farm purchased the Grand Circuit placed Broadway Hall filly, Kalibrated, for her strong broodmare potential, while William Ethier of Maine bought the Allamerican Ingot colt Swingbatterbatter to race at Saratoga this winter.
Burke Stables sold a pair of popular pacers in the Preferred Mare Tu Tu Twain and upper class conditioned claimer Onemoreyear. Racing at the Meadows, Tu Tu Twain was purchased for $22,000 and Onemoreyear for $18,000 by Ohioans Chris McGuire and Jan Jungquist, respectively. John Kiwezak signed the ticket on Hazel Park Open pacer Tre Bien for $20,500 to race at Pompano. Bidding was spirited toward the end of the four-day sale on eight time winning three-year-old filly Jet From Above. Jeff Clark of Maryland got the nod at $18,000 for the Threefold filly that he will campaign at Dover.
Midland Acres offered a nice consignment of Ohio bred yearlings. Call The Warden by Jailhouse Jesse proved most popular with Jim Arledge, Jr. signing the ticket for $20,000. Virgil Morgan purchased colts by Jailhouse Jesse and Chip Chip Hooray for $17,000 and $15,500.
