Kentuckiana Farms has announced that Celebrity Secret 3,1:52.3 ($1,096,893) will stand the 2009 breeding season at Kentuckiana Farms of New Jersey.

Celebrity Secret will retire to stud duty as the second richest son of super-sire Yankee Glide with current earnings of $1,096,893 and a career record of 1:52.3, only behind the sensational Glidemaster. Celebrity Secret is out of Aimees Promise, by American Winner.

Celebrity Secret was a $75,000 yearling and hails from the immediate family of Lindy Lane 3, 1:53, $895,110. At two, Celebrity Secret was a winner of $277,656, finishing second in the Bluegrass by a neck to world champion Muscle Mass, second in an elimination and third in the final of the $700,000 Valley Victory to Deweycheatumnhowe, and second to Deweycheatumnhowe in both the elimination and final in the $650,000 Breeders Crown, by less than a length.

At three, Celebrity Secret has seasonal earnings of $819,237 and has earned the distinction of being only one of two horses to ever defeat the sensational Deweycheatumnhowe, in what is regarded by many as the most memorable three-heat Kentucky Futurity in modern-day trotting history – a nosed-out photo finish with an astonishing final quarter of 26.2.

“Celebrity Secret really showed what a great horse he was when he made it one of the most memorable and competitive Kentucky Futurities ever,” says Hall of Fame driver John Campbell.

Throughout his career, Celebrity Secret has finished either first or second in the elims or finals of the $1.5 million Hambletonian, $685,000 Kentucky Futurity, $650,000 Breeders Crown, $930,000 Canadian Trotting Classic, $565,000 World Trotting Derby, $350,000 Stanley Dancer Memorial, $700,000 Valley Victory, $500,000 Colonial, $90,000 Bluegrass and $175,000 NJSS Championship – finishing second six times to Deweycheatumnhowe.

Celebrity Secret is a spectacular individual with exceptional size, balance and power. I loved him as a yearling and felt he showed all of the characteristics of a great racehorse. As an individual, he is one of the best sons of Yankee Glide ever raised at Kentuckiana. After his narrow defeat to Muscle Mass in the slop in Lexington at two, just weeks after he established his World Record mark of 1:53.4, I knew it was time to secure 'Secret' for potential stud duty. The way he has battled week in and week out against one of the toughest three-year-old classes in recent memory, he has demonstrated the determination that is rooted in all great stallions. His defeat of Deweycheatumnhowe in the second elimination of the Kentucky Futurity and photo finish place to 'Dewey' in the third-heat, race-off final more than confirmed our belief that he will prove to be a great sire and potential replacement son of the great Yankee Glide,” said Bob Brady, owner and general manager of Kentuckiana Farms.

The 2009 service fee for Celebrity Secret will be established after the Breeders Crown.

Like all of Kentuckiana’s new stallions for 2009, Celebrity Secret will serve a limited book to comply with the new USTA regulations on stallion books.

Syndication details will be available in the near future.
