All the king’s horses, and all the king’s men helped Marc Campbell put a driving title together yet again Monday evening on the final seasonal card at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

Nicknamed “The King” of Island racing, Campbell had four winners on the night to claim the 2021 driving title at the Prince County Oval. The four winners put Campbell at 52 wins on the year with Corey MacPherson finishing second with 50 wins and Jason Hughes third with 48 seasonal victories.

Campbell won with Raise You Twenty (1:56.1) and Plain Jane (1:58.2) from his own stable as well as a 2:00.1 win with Cyclone Alvie for trainer Ralph Sweet. His other win came in the $4,000 P.E.I. Harness Racing Industry Association Go The Distance final for pacing horses aboard Zack The Men (2:00) from the Michael MacDonald barn of Orwell.

Campbell also won the 2021 training title in Summerside with 21 wins.

The Wade Sorrie stable had three winners on the night with the first two coming in partnership with driver MacPherson as Gascoigne Rocks (2:00.3) and Pictonian Storm (1:58.2) both crossed the wire first. Adam Merner supplied the other Sorrie score with the Walter Simmons owned Bugsy Maguire (1:56.1) in the $3,200 preferred pace.

MacPherson also won the $4,000 P.E.H.R.I.A. Go The Distance final for pacing mares with Dreas Good Powow (2:01.2) for conditioner Joe MacDonald to give the Cornwall reinsman a driving triple.

The race 4 Wendell Wallace Memorial was a family moment with Coasttocoastshark winning the race in 1:57.2 for his grandsons in driver Devon Wallace and trainer Jeff Wallace. Jeff Wallace also trains race 7 winner Flowersonthebeach (1:56.1) with Dale Spence at the lines Monday.

Live racing now shifts to Red Shores Charlottetown with cards every Saturday and Sunday afternoon in November starting at 12:30 p.m.
