Quick Deal became Quicker Deal Friday night, bettering his own Yonkers Raceway track - and world – record.
Leaving from post position five - the same starting stop from his previous record Oct. 15 - the 2-5 choice was three-wide early before making the lead. Quick Deal did just that before a :27.1 opening quarter-mile, rated a :56.1 half, then went on administer a beating with driver George Brennan in tow.
A 1:24.2 three-quarters bumped his lead to seven lengths. It was an even dozen turning for home, and 12-1/4 lengths at the wire, which he found in 1:53.2 - one tick faster than his jolly jaunt from mid-October. Bound For Fame was second, with Calchips Brute third.
The effort also wiped himself out of the world record ledger under the category of ‘aged gelding on a half-mile oval.’
For Quick Deal, a five-year-old Revenue S gelding trained by Ron Burke for co-owners Our Horse Cents Stable and Rossie Smith, he returned $2.90 for his seventh win in 19 seasonal starts.
Quick Deal has won his last three races (two here, one at Harrah's Philly) by a combined 37-1/4 lengths.
