Driver Howard Parker joined the 5,000-win club thanks to a triumph with Guiltywithanexcuse in the Saturday evening swan song at Pocono Downs.
Parker got away second with the 2-1 favourite, but he had his charge on the move in the second quarter of the contest. Guiltywithanexcuse, trained by Mike Sinclair, cleared and led the group through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:24.1 before using a :29.3 kicker to win by a length in 1:53.4
Parker, who started his driving career in 1977, has made Pocono his home track for the past few seasons. Parker has banked more than $45 million in career earnings.
