Canadian Breeders Championship winner Class Of O Nine earned just her second win of the season as she surged home to defeat a field of mostly older mares in the $35,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace on Friday evening at Woodbine Racetrack.

Driven by Mike Saftic for trainer Bob McIntosh in a tightener for the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals, Class Of O Nine missed her lifetime mark by just one-fifth of a second with the 1:51.4 winning effort. She returned $56.70 to her backers for a $2 win ticket.

Waasmula (Luc Ouellette) swept from fourth to first following a :27.2 opening quarter and led the way past middle splits of :56.1 and 1:23.4 before being picked off by the late-closing Class Of O Nine, who rallied home from fourth in :27-seconds for the three-quarter length victory. Maureen Rocks (Chris Christoforou) finished third.

Class Of O Nine is owned and bred by Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. of Windsor, Ont. and Dwight Stacey of Mitchell, Ont. She has compiled a seasonal record reading 2-5-3 in 16 sophomore outings while banking over $300,000.

The lion's share of the purse pushed her career earnings to $538,096.

Also turning in winning efforts in their OSS Super Final prep races were three-year-old trotting filly Daylon Miracle (1:55.4) and three-year-old trotting colt Cold Certified (1:54.2).
