JM Betonsix On The Improve

Patience is a virtue, and that patience definitely appears to be paying off for the connections of sophomore pacer JM Betonsix.

A homebred owned by Joe Miskokomon of Muncey, Ont., JM Betonsix was winless in six rookie starts in Ontario. The daughter of Betting Line - Six Of Hearts then started her three-year-old season stateside, going 0-for-10 but managing seven top-three finishes. With her Pennsylvania Sire Stakes engagements concluded, she's returned to Ontario with a nose for the wire. JM Betonsix won three straight tests, the most recent coming on Sept. 10 at Woodbine Mohawk Park in 1:52.3.

On Friday (Nov. 19), JM Betonsix returned after a two-month absence and picked up right where she left off. With Bert Renaud up for trainer Julie Walker, JM Betonsix did all the front-end heavy lifting in her qualifying effort at Mohawk, carving out fractions of :29, :58.2 and 1:27.4 before a :29.3 closer was enough to hold off pocket-sitting Nelsoneddy Hanover (Trevor Henry) and late-charging Merito Hanover (James MacDonald) to trip the timer in 1:57.2.
