There was no stopping even-money favourite Maxim Seelster, or driver Bob McClure for that matter, on Sunday night (November 19) at Flamboro Downs as they led from start to finish in the $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 Pace.
Leaving from post four, Maxim Seelster set up shop on the front-end and cruised through fractions of :27.4, :57.2 and 1:27.1 en route to the 1:57.3 victory. Mach Magic followed one and a quarter lengths behind in second off a pocket trip and Sing Like An Angel came on for third.
Rene Bourassa trains the four-year-old Big Jim-Mistreos mare, who has now won four of her 25 starts this year, for M&s Racing Stable Inc. Rockwood, Ont.
The victory was the fourth on the night for McClure, who also guided Boomboom Ballykeel ($7.50) to a 1:55.3 score for trainer Richard Moreau and Ballykeel Racing in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for male pacers.
An $8,500 Preferred 3 for distaffers was won by trainer John and Bradley Powell's War Filly ($5.90) in 1:58 with Colin Kelly in the bike.
McClure played a part in trainer Patrick Shepherd's perfect night at Flamboro (three-for-three) guiding Articulate Barb ($2.30) to victory in the opener. Shepherd's brother Robert drove his stable's two other winners, Mr Yokassippi ($3.80) and Real Wicked ($11.10).
