Make it back-to-back Preferred scores for Happy Holidays, who turned a two-hole trip into a narrow triumph in the $11,500 feature during Saturday’s 10-race program at Flamboro Downs.
Anthony MacDonald worked out the pocket trip for Happy Holidays, who was able to keep close tabs on Lets Leavem through fractions of :28, :57.2 and 1:28. MacDonald had his charge on the move in the third quarter, and a :30.3 final quarter was enough to earn the mare the win by a head over race favourite Hldontghttoyurdrms in 1:58.3. Third prize went to Lets Leavem.
The five-year-old daughter of Holiday Road-Dynamic Lavec, who won the Preferred class just four days ago in London, now owns an impressive record of 11-6-5 from 40 starts this season for trainer Amy MacDonald. The 19-time winner, who is owned by Thestable Hh Group of Guelph, Ont, pushed her lifetime earnings over $110,000 with the win.
It was one of three wins on the card for trainer Amy MacDonald, who also clicked with Mystical Mission (2:00.1) and Nower Power (2:01.2).
Seeyou Men capped off the card with a 1:58.4 triumph in the $8,500 Preferred 3 for trotters. Robert Shepherd rallied the gelding to the 1:58.4 score over Stonebridge Hall and Fluff Me Up.
Isabelle Darveau trains the five-year-old son of Muscle Mass-Seeyouinthecircle for Montreal partners Catheline Pelletier and Chantal Gravelle. It was the third win of the season – and the 14th to date – for the career winner of $134,642.
