Apple Pie Angel failed to win in the first seven starts of her career, but she’s been unstoppable ever since.
The three-year-old daughter of American Ideal-Darling Angel toted a four-race winning streak into her Monday evening assignment at Woodbine Racetrack, and she pushed her magic number to five thanks to a 1:55.1 victory in the card’s curtain closer.
Apple Pie Angel was hustled to the lead from Post 7 by driver Chris Christoforou, who carved out panels of :27.4, :56.4 and 1:24.3 with the filly before using a :30.3 closing quarter to seal the deal by three-quarters of a length over A Fearless Affair. Third prize went to Deuces For Charity. The winning time was 1:55.1 for Apple Pie Angel.
Raymond Larose of St-Henri-De-Levis, Quebec owns and trains the career winner of $31,995.
