Narragansett used a powerful finishing kick to knock off Brief Bliss in an exciting stretch drive battle to win the Sunday feature pace at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Sophomore gelding Narragansett went from last to first in the field of nine to win in 1:59 flat. Norris Rogers did the driving for owner Ron Hall of Wallace, N.S. and trainer Dale Sobey. Brief Bliss and Stephen Quinn were second while Rymar Chief and catch-driver Gary Chappell finished third.
Multiple stakes winner Sweetwater Rukkas, under the command of Jack Panting, found racing room late to capture the Open Trot in 2:02.4 for owner-trainer Ralph Annear of Montague, P.E.I. Julaire and Marc Campbell, who joined the leaders three-high at the three-quarters, held on for second while Ginternal Revenue and Mike Stevenson stormed up the inside to complete the triactor.
Artiste Duharas won the Beauty Spur Memorial for Corey MacPherson in 2:00.3. MacPherson, who had two winners on the day, drove the pacer for owners Lisa Richards and Mitchell Tierney of Cornwall, P.E.I.
Campbell recorded a driving triple on the program capping off a seven-win performance over the weekend.
