'Powerful' Performance At Balmoral

Illinois-conceived and foaled two-year-old trotting colts were front and centre on Wednesday night at Balmoral Park, as a compact field of six youngsters squared off in a $12,605 division of the ISOBA Super Sale Stakes.

As expected, the Pam Coleman-trained Powerful Position took advantage of the absence of many of the top trotters in the division. He had absolutely no trouble disposing of his rivals, as he went on to post a one and a half-length victory in 2:00.1.

Perfectly handled by driver Brian Carpenter, the gelded son of Powerful Emotion sat right on the back on his main rival, Anthonyskywalker (driven by Todd Warren) who led the way through splits of :29.2 and 1:01.1.

With Fox Valley Arrow (Dale Hiteman) pulling from third as the field moved midway around the final turn, Carpenter maneuvered his charge out of the pocket and quickly overtook the pace-setting Anthonyskywalker as the field reached the three-quarter-mile mark in 1:31.3.

On cruise control the rest of the way, the 6-5 post time choice was never in danger as he rolled under the wire with his fourth win in 15 starts this season. Fox Valley Arrow rallied to finish second, while Itz Alive (Art Gregory Jr.) finished third.
