Armycaptin Hanover Best In B.C.

Armycaptin Hanover ($4) looked every bit the part of the even-money favourite in Wednesday's (Nov. 17) $10,000 Open Handicap Pace at Fraser Downs, repelling a sustained attack from Waitin Ona River to score in 1:54.1.

Trainer-driver Kelly Hoerdt, who co-owns the five-year-old Captaintreacherous gelding with Blair Corbeil, worked Armycaptin Hanover clear well beyond a :27.4 first quarter after being kept wide by Mach Steady for the entire first turn. After rating a :57.2 half, Armycaptin Hanover faced mild pressure from Waitin Ona River (John Chappell) up the backstretch, accelerating to three-quarters in 1:25.4 and keeping that rival by a measured length at the winning post. Mach Steady (Brandon Campbell) maintained third up the open stretch.

Now a 20-time winner, Armycaptin Hanover won for the second time at the current Fraser Downs stand and the eighth time this year.
