Following a rare off-the-board finish in last week's $12,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace, Stash The Cookies returned to winning form with a sharp score facing the top distaffers at Century Mile on Friday, Nov. 15.

Stash The Cookies and driver Dave Kelly called all the shots this night, setting splits of :27.2, :55.3 and 1:24.3 en route to the 1:52.3 victory.

While winning two of her last three starts in the Preferred, the John Chappell trainee has been less than a second off the track record for older pacing mares.

Stash The Cookies was the 4-5 favourite and paid $3.80 to win. Outlaw Sharktastic (Nathan Sobey) finished 1-1/2 lengths behind off a pocket trip and Outlawabovenbeyond (Mike Hennessy) rounded out the triactor, closing off cover after last week's winner, Roulette Hanover (Phil Giesbrecht), tried a first-over move in the final turn.

Stash The Cookies earned her ninth win of the season from 14 starts for owner Derek Gilbert of Brandon, Man. A career winner of 39 races, the eight-year-old daughter of Sunfire Blue Chip and Saucy B is closing in on $400,000 in earnings.

Another mare who knows how to win is Electric Amadeus as she streaked to her fifth straight victory, taking the following race in 1:54.3. Mike Hennessy picked up the catch-drive on the wire-to-wire winner in a $9,300 fillies and mares claiming-conditioned pace. Electric Amadeus won by three-quarters of a length over pocket pursuer Bares All (Logan Gillis), with Sunshineatthebeach (John Glen) third, edging out favourite If Only Id Known (Phil Giesbrecht), who was dropping down in class from the Mares Preferred level.

Owned by trainer Brinsley Brooking Lutz and Harvey Jaeger, the eight-year-old Rockin Amadeus-Still Electric mare has now won 11 races and earned $53,347 in her best season to date.
