Millionaire Marloe Hanover was all out to do it, but she held off the late charge of Blue Ivy to capture Thursday’s $21,200 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
While Marloe Hanover blitzed the opening panel in :26, Blue Ivy was stuck outside before the break of Sweet And Feisty allowed her to slip into the pocket. They raced that way until mid-stretch when Blue Ivy began to nibble into the lead. She came up a nose short and Marloe Hanover prevailed for Dave Palone in 1:50.4. C Is For Cookie rallied for show.
Virgil Morgan Jr. trains Marloe Hanover, a six-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-Mesmerize Bluechip who now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $1,066,074, for Let It Ride Stables, JL Benson Stables and Bottom Line Racing LLC.
Palone collected five wins on the 13-race card while Chris Lems and trainers Scott Betts and Ron Burke each enjoyed a triple.
Live harness racing at The Meadows continues on Friday when the 13-race program features a $5,413.53 carryover in the Early Pentafecta (race four). First post is 12:45 p.m.
