Continualou retook the lead from Lady Newton at the half and drew away from her late to capture Tuesday’s feature at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows, a $12,100 filly & mare conditioned pace.
Lady Newton was riding a five-race winning streak, but Dave Palone and Continualou wanted no part of the pocket. The aggressive move paid off, as Continualou downed Lady Newton by three lengths in 1:51.3, with All Day Sunshine third.
Ron Burke trains Continualou, a three-year-old daughter of Sweet Lou-Continual Velocity who lifted her career earnings to $349,854, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Burke collected four wins and Aaron Merriman three on the 12-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Wednesday when the 12-race program features a $2,953.75 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post is 12:45 p.m.
