Truro Raceway rolled out the red carpet for a six-pack of rookie pacing colts and geldings on Sunday, as the Nova Scotia half-miler hosted the Nova Scotia Stakes

.

The majority of the bettors were enamoured with Putnams Power in the $10,800 tilt, and the son of Force Of Life-Southview Shania didn’t disappoint for trainer/driver Danny Romo.

Putnams Power rushed to immediate command from his post six perch, and he went on to slice out fractions of :29, 1:00.1 and 1:30.3 before sprinting home in :29.4 en route to the 7-1/2 length score in 2:00.2. Neigh Monster (Robert Laffin) came first over and finished second, while J G S Sandy (Todd Trites) tagged along to finish third.

Ronald Seymour, Jr. and Bruce Donovan of Glace Bay, NS share ownership on the colt, who now boasts a 13-1-2 record in 16 starts. The lion’s share of Sunday’s purse increased his cash stash to $66,268.
