Freshmen faced off on Saturday night (Nov. 13) in the Kindergarten Classics at The Meadowlands. A total of four finals — one for each division of two-year-old — pinned some of the division's top competitors against one another.
Action began with the fifth race, the $300,960 Kindergarten Classic for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings. The two-year-old trotting fillies competed in Race 7 for a purse of $294,580 followed by the two-year-old pacing fillies in Race 9, going for a purse of $220,110, and completing with the two-year-old pacing colts and geldings in Race 11 for a purse of $238,700.
Dexter Dunn showed no ill effects of the spill he was involved in at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday, as he and his sore leg won two races in addition to his Kindergarten hat trick, giving him five victories to lead the driver’s colony, helping the 32-year-old native New Zealander’s case as he bids for a third straight United States Harness Writers Association Driver of the Year trophy.
