Fast freshman Highlandbeachsbest sharpened for what could be an appearance in the Governor's Cup next weekend with a solid prep mile during qualifying action on Friday (Nov. 13) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Lining up with a group of less seasoned two-year-old pacers, Highlandbeachsbest made every call a winning one during his Friday morning test for driver Bob McClure and trainer Amanda Fine. After pacing through panels of :28, :57.2 and 1:27, Highlandbeachsbest sprinted home in :27.2 to trip the timer some seven lengths the best in 1:54.2.

Fine told Trot Insider after the qualifier that the colt "qualified very well" and that McClure was pleased with the effort. She'll be more pleased if the Somebeachsomewhere - Rockn Highland) colt is one of the horses that will make the cut for the 2020 Governor's Cup Final next Saturday (Nov. 21) at The Meadowlands.

The eleven (11) highest 2020 money winners that are declared in will race in the the Fall Final Four -- Governor's Cup, Three Diamonds, Valley Victory & Goldsmith Maid -- with a provision for a consolation if enough are declared to warrant one. In 12 seasonal starts, Highlandbeachsbest sports earnings of $136,761 (or US$124,002) for breeder-owner Highland Thoroughbred Farm of Inglewood, Ont.
