Maritimer extended his win streak to four with a big move at the half in the featured $1,225 Winners Over Pace at Truro Raceway on Sunday afternoon

.

After scoring back-to-back victories in the Island Breeders Championship and divisions of the Donnie & George Turner Memorial Pace and Joe O'Brien Memorial Gold Stakes, Maritimer tackled a field of eight conditioned pacers for his next conquest.

The Post 8 starter trailed the field early on by 11 lengths, but kicked into high gear and charged three-wide, making it within a length of the leading favourite Longn Winding Road (Phil Pinkney) by the half-mile mark. The three-year-old Full Scholarship-Country Chill colt, driven by Ryan Ellis, took over command during the third panel and sprinted home to record a 1:58.1 victory. Longn Winding Road finished two and a quarter lengths behind while Access Key (Emmons Ralph MacKay) finished three lengths back in third.

Maritimer paid $8 to win as the 3-1 second choice. George Rennison trains the winner of 10 races in 16 seasonal starts and $43,106 for owner Barbara Pearl of Hants Co, N.S.

The win was one of three on the card for Ellis and it provided Rennison with his second training tally of the day.
