Truro Raceway will be showcasing 14 dashes on it Sunday, November 15 live program with none bigger than the Nova Scotia Harness Racing Industry Association and Standardbred Canada co-sponsored Nova Scotia Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies.
A field of six has been assembled and will head postward for Race 8. Fillies that were eligible to the event are Nova Scotia-foaled and are Canadian-sired and/or 100 per cent Canadian owned.
The morning line favourite, the Bernard McCallum-trained Putnams Dough Girl, will be leaving from Post 5 with driver Daniel Romo. The duo has been assessed at odds of 5-2 early on.
Putnams Dough Girl has made 14 career starts and is still looking to break her maiden. The filly has recorded a lone second-place finish and has tacked on six third-place efforts. Her bankroll currently sits at $11,374 and she has taken a qualifying mark of 2:04 over the half-mile Truro course.
The slight second morning line favourite at odds of 3-1 is Bettim Laura, which will be leaving from the outside Post 6.
Bettim Laura is trained and driven by Jeff Lilley of Kendall Python fame. Unlike the morning line favourite, Bettim Laura does have a win on her card, but is looking to rebound from a subpar effort last time out where she finished eighth and was beaten by 37 lengths.
