In Pennsylvania, the Luzerne County Convention Centre Authority, which owns the Wachovia Arena, located about five minutes from Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, voted Wednesday to officially rename the arena the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on January 20, 2010

.

Bobby Soper, president and CEO of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, said the link between the arena and the track will create “a premier entertainment destination centre” similar in size to the one that the tribe operates in Connecticut.

The 10-year-old arena seats nearly 10,000 for concerts and has more than 8,000 permanent seats, and Soper calls it “not only a branding opportunity but also an opportunity to leverage each other’s respective properties and customer databases.”

He said the track would be “front and centre” on all the arena’s advertising.

He said financial terms of the 10-year agreement could not be publicized at the moment because the document was still a work in progress.
