Hunter Hill made every pole a winning one en route to a 2-1/2-length triumph in the $11,000 Preferred Pace for horses and geldings at Flamboro Downs on Sunday, Nov. 12.
Ed Hensley and the Scott West trainee left from post six. As Cheddar Bay secured the pylon position, Hunter Hill had to keep moving on the outside as he clicked the first panel in :27.1. He settled into the lead with an extended lead as he continued through panels in :56.2 and 1:24.4. Down the lane, Hunter Hill claimed the victory for himself with a 2-1/2-length lead in 1:53.3. Cheddar Bay took second and Ideal Perception (Travis Cullen) rounded out the top three.
A six-year-old gelded son of Somebeachsomewhere and the American Ideal mare Ali Blue, Hunter Hill is owned by West and he earned his sixth seasonal win in 28 starts and his 18th career victory. He moved his career sum to $178,890. Hunter Hill paid $11.60 to win as the 5-1 third choice.
Brodys Scrapper won his fifth race in a row, in 1:55.2, for the team of driver Travis Cullen and trainer Jodie Cullen. The 12-year-old Mach Three gelding has seven wins in 10 starts this season and hit the career milestone of 50 wins. The veteran pacer owned by A1stable now has $351,361 in career earnings. He paid $2.40 to win.
